Fenerbahçe are in the final for the 18th time in the cup and experiencing the excitement of the final for the ninth time in the last 19 seasons. In the matches between the two sides of the Spor Toto Super League this season, Fenerbahçe won 1-0 at home and 2-1 away.
F. BAHÇE WANTS TO QUIT 9 YEARS PERMANENTLY END
If the Fenerbahçe football team defeats Medipol Başakşehir in the final of the Turkish Ziraat Cup, their nine-year trek for the trophy will end.
Fenerbahçe lifted their last trophy on August 25, 2014. Led by coach Ersun Yanal, the yellow and navy team managed to finish the 2013–2014 season as champions. Fenerbahce, who played in the TFF Super Cup under the management of İsmail Kartal, who took charge of the team after Yanal’s departure at the end of the season, experienced the joy of the cup when they overtook Galatasaray on penalties.
Later, the yellow-navy team failed to win any trophies in any of the lanes they competed in in 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2019 win 2021-2022 season. Fenerbahce failed to reach the Spor Toto Super League championship in 2022-2023 season and failed to experience the joy of the cup.
THE LAST WAY TWO TEAMS
Fenerbahce, who started the cup in the 5th round, defeated Istanbulspor 3-1. The yellow-navy team that hosted Çaykur Rizespor for the last 16 rounds eliminated their opponent 2-1 and got their name in the next round. Fenerbahçe defeated Kayserispor 4-1 in the quarterfinals and met Sivasspor in the semifinals. After the first game in Sivas ended scoreless, Canary defeated his opponent 3-0 in the second game and managed to secure the final ticket.
Başakşehir, on the other hand, eliminated Göztepe 3-1 in the 5th round, met Fatih Karagümrük in the last 16 round and won the penalty shootout, which ended 2-2. In the quarterfinals, the orange and dark blue team fought against Galatasaray, won 3-2 and advanced to the semifinals. After defeating MKE Ankaragücü 1-0 in the first game, Başakşehir was the team that advanced to the final with a 2-2 overtime equalization in the second game.
